Supervising Students’ Theses

Content
Writing theses is a very complex and challenging task which is usually mastered over many years of practice. Supervising this process is nearly as complex and requires various competencies: supervisors need to support students during their writing processes without interfering insufficiently or too much. They need to define and transparently communicate their expectations as well as evaluate their students’ theses objectively. They need to know about the pitfalls of the writing process and need to address them constructively. Today, they even need to deal with the fact that their students use AI-tools like ChatGPT in their academic writing. In this course, we reflect these and other challenges and build up the necessary skills to address them properly.
