The course focuses on cultural & intercultural considerations when teaching with digital technologies in higher education, whether in face-to-face, blended or online mode. Bookended by a general introductory & concluding week, four week-long key themes will be explored, each led by a different international partner university. Each week, participants will asynchronously read/view collated resources & reflection questions, before attending a synchronous online session to engage in activities & discussions with international colleagues, sharing insights, practices & concerns & considering future practice.
Objectives
Participants will be able to
  • identify cultural and intercultural considerations relevant to teaching with digital technologies.
  • Discuss challenges and opportunities of navigating and leveraging digital technologies in intercultural settings.
  • Reflect on digital teaching practices to identify good practices and areas for improvement for cultural and intercultural considerations.

  • Project-based Learning to Enhance Personalization, Creativity, and Authenticity in Cross-cultural Settings (University of Hawai?i at M?noa)
  • Conclusion and Presentations (all partners)
Other potential themes which can be woven in include: access, equity & diversity, design justice, links to UN SDGs, & digital wellness/wellbeing.
 
Tip
This workshop will take place online: Start 8. Oct. 2024 – End 15 Nov. 2024. The exact session dates will be announced closer to the date.
The course will be jointly delivered by 6 universities over 6 weeks with synchronous and asynchronous activities. In addition, participants will have an opportunity to participate in an extended international team project:
  • Week 1: Introduction
  • Weeks 2-5: Engagement with weekly theme
  • Week 6: Conclusion
